Praetorian Aeronautics is seeking a senior electronics engineer to own power electronics and embedded systems for high-speed interceptors, ensuring reliability in flight conditions.
You will lead end-to-end design, testing, and production, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with mechanical, software, and systems teams to deliver robust boards for flight trials.
Own the power electronics and embedded systems that let Arrow and Dagger interceptors survive high-speed flight and defeat autonomous threats in real time.
Praetorian Aeronautics builds advanced autonomous aerial systems designed to protect and defend against the rapidly evolving threat of drone warfare.
Headquartered in Adelaide, and with offices in Melbourne and Darwin, we are developing an integrated ecosystem of counter-autonomy systems including:
Together, these systems enable defence operators to detect, assess, and defeat autonomous threats while maintaining situational dominance in contested environments.
Every interceptor Praetorian fields and every mothership that carries them, depends on power electronics and embedded systems that survive the stresses of high-speed flight and work flawlessly in the one moment they're needed: intercepting an autonomous threat before it strikes.
There's no tolerance for a board that fails in the field, so the electronics have to be right from first principles through to the production line.
You'll own the end-to-end design of digital, analogue, and power electronics across our portfolio, from architecture and schematics through PCB layout, qualification, and production. That includes integrating and testing assemblies, running verification and validation campaigns, and troubleshooting design faults.
You'll also review other engineers' work, mentor junior electronics engineers, liaise with suppliers, and get hands-on in flight trials and lab setups — working closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineering to make sure every board performs when it counts.
Given the nature of our work in defence and national security, all team members must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
