Job description

Axess Offshore Australia Pty. is currently accepting resumes for a Senior Electrical Inspection Engineer. The ideal applicant would have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the oil & gas industry.

Essential job functions:
  • We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will report to the Regional Manager and be responsible for all electrical works inspection and maintenance related. The successful candidate will be leading electrical work scopes and managing a small team of inspectors to accomplish the following:
  • Interpret specifications, drawings, standards, and regulations related to electric power equipment, use and compliance with Hazardous Areas.
  • Identify types and layouts of circuits, transformers, circuit‑breakers, and electrical equipment related to offshore vessels, such as drill ships and FPSO to ensure compliance with international standards.
  • Organize and manage resources used in the supply of electrical components, machines, appliances, and equipment to be repaired and/or replaced.
  • Testing, repairing, and replacing of electric motors, components, equipment, and appliances in accordance with the results of inspections carried out.
  • Inspection of electrical equipment in Hazardous Areas in accordance with IEC60079 standards.
  • Inspection and maintenance of offshore personnel elevators, including replacing of components when required and parametrization of PLCs.
  • Be able to analyse the stages of ESD in offshore vessels (Emergency Shutdown System), through existing drawings and site inspections to perform corrective changes.
  • Inspect offshore cranes and follow up with preventive maintenance system.
Qualification & Experience:
  • Electrical Engineering Degree accredited by a local authority.
  • Knowledge of industry regulatory codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function with minimal to no supervision.
  • Experience with engineering design, specification, package management and client relations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Safety awareness.
  • Certification to inspect offshore cranes (API 2C2D) – preferred.
  • Certification to inspect personnel elevators – preferred.
  • Certification to inspect hazardous area (CompEX, IECEx or equivalent) – preferred.
