Job summary

STACK Infrastructure APAC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Solution Engineering in Cremorne, Tasmania to lead electrical design across data centre projects from concept to commissioning.

You will provide technical leadership, evaluate design options, and ensure safety, reliability and energy efficiency while supporting cost reduction and fast delivery. Mentors for graduates and junior engineers are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience in complex infrastructure or mission-critical projects.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS and power distribution.
• Experience taking electrical designs from concept through construction and commissioning.
• Data centre design, construction or operations experience is a plus.
• Experience in energy-efficient design and modular power solutions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical input for customer sales requirements.
• Develop concept designs for early customer discussions and consultant briefing.
• Develop long lead equipment technical documentation and review vendor proposals.
• Drive updates to internal BOD drawings and schematics.
• Steer consultants to achieve design outcomes.
• Ensure deliverables are compliant, high quality, on time and buildable.
• Review consultant designs against STACK BOD and customer requirements.
• Reduce construction cost by removing over-engineering or conservatism.
• Support construction activities via review and approval of workshop drawings.
• Support R&D to drive STACK’s next generation design solutions.
• Support and mentor graduate and junior engineers.
• Provide technical input to operational issues to identify root causes and solutions.

The Summary:

The Senior Electrical Engineer – Solution Engineering is responsible for developing and delivering robust electrical engineering solutions across data centre projects, from concept design through to implementation. The role provides technical leadership, evaluates design options, supports project teams and stakeholders, and ensures solutions meet safety, reliability, compliance and operational requirements. The position also brings innovative thinking to achieve high-quality technical solutions that support cost reduction, flexibility, speed of delivery and improved energy efficiency across projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive technical input and information for customer sales requirements.

• Develop concept designs for early customer discussions and consultant briefing.

• Steer consultants using technical expertise in weekly activities to achieve design outcomes.

• Working with consultants to ensure deliverables are compliant with customer requirements, technically correct, high quality, on time and buildable.

• Review consultant designs against STACK BOD and customer requirements.

• Reduce construction cost by identifying and removing over-engineering or conservatism.

• Support construction activities via review and approval of workshop drawings.

• Support the research and development activities to drive STACK’s next generation design solutions.

• Support and mentor graduate and junior engineers helping develop STACK's future capabilities.

• Provide technical input to operational issues to help identify root causes and potential solutions.

Must-Have Experience

• Minimum 7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, including experience delivering electrical design solutions for complex infrastructure or mission-critical projects. Previous data centre experience is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS and power distribution.

• Experience developing and reviewing electrical solutions from concept design through construction and commissioning.

Good-to-Have Experience

• Experience in data centre design, construction or operations.

• Experience in value engineering, energy-efficient design, modular solutions or power system modelling.
