Job summary

Powertech is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join Powertech supporting our Malaga office on a Full-Time Permanent Basis.

Perform FEED and Detailed Design for substation equipment and systems, conduct power system modelling, and lead technical reports and design proofs. This role offers a dynamic, collaborative environment across mining, renewables, defence, and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Chartered Status (CPEng) – or ability to achieve within 6 months of starting the role.
• Detail knowledge of design QA processes and relevant standards, legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Experience generating design scopes, specifications, and project estimating.
• Proficient in generating detailed technical reports and concise technical arguments.
• Proven experience delivering turnkey design solutions on projects with values up to $5mil.
• Strong understanding of HV substations, control, automation, protection, and communications.

Responsibilities

• Perform FEED and Detailed Design for substation equipment and systems.
• Conduct Power System Modelling and Analysis for protection coordination, load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, and lightning protection.
• Design Earthing systems, including Step and Touch Potential, EPR, Earth Grid Design, and Portable Earthing.
• Technical/economic feasibility studies, technical support for estimating and project framing, asset lifecycle engineering and analysis.
• Assist in the development of engineering standards, processes, and systems and provide supervision and training to engineers and graduates.

About The Role:

• Perform FEED and Detailed Design for substation equipment and systems, including Protection Design, AC/DC Switchgear, Switchyard, Substation Building and Auxiliaries, Battery/ Battery Charger/UPS.
• Conduct Power System Modelling and Analysis Studies for protection coordination, load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash, and lightning protection.
• Design Earthing systems, including Step and Touch Potential, EPR, Earth Grid Design, and Portable Earthing.
• Technical/economic feasibility studies, technical support for estimating and project framing, asset lifecycle engineering and analysis.
• Assist in the development of engineering standards, processes, and systems and provide supervision and training to engineers and graduates.

About You:
