Job summary

NEPEAN Power, a specialist electrical and electronic solutions provider, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer in Mackay, QLD. You will lead detailed electrical design activities across mining, energy and infrastructure projects, reporting to the QLD State Manager.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering with relevant Australian experience.
• Minimum 7 years in electrical design and/or project management.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards and safety practices.
• RPEQ registration or eligibility is highly regarded.
• Experience leading multiple projects and engaging with customers and suppliers.
• Proficient with engineering software and Microsoft Office; ERP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform detailed electrical design works and technical projects.
• Plan, coordinate and manage engineering resources across projects.
• Provide technical leadership to internal teams and customers.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards and industry requirements.
• Prepare proposals, project plans, cost estimates and schedules.
• Support budgeting and cost estimation activities with sound judgement.
• Drive standardisation and digitalisation improvements in processes.
• Lead integration of new products into existing NEPEAN Power designs.
• Support manufacturing, testing and commissioning as needed.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and project engineers.

Your Role

This rewarding role will see you:

• Lead and perform detailed electrical design works, engineering studies, and technical project activities.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage engineering resources to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• Provide technical leadership and support to internal teams, production personnel, customers, and suppliers.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, codes of practice, and industry requirements.
• Prepare and contribute to proposals, project plans, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Support budgeting and cost estimation activities through sound commercial and engineering judgement.
• Drive standardisation initiatives by developing and maintaining engineering procedures, systems, and digitalisation improvements.
• Lead the integration of new products into existing NEPEAN Power designs and solutions.
• Support manufacturing, testing, and commissioning activities as required.
• Mentor and guide Project Engineers and Electrical Engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering team.

The Right Person

You are:

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years' experience in electrical design and/or project management.
• Experienced in mining, energy, infrastructure, or industrial electrical systems, including new builds and equipment overhauls.
• Knowledgeable in Australian Standards and electrical engineering best practices.
• RPEQ registered or eligible for registration (highly regarded).
• Experienced in leading engineering deliverables across multiple projects while managing competing priorities.
• Skilled in engaging with customers, suppliers, production teams, and other stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
• Proficient in engineering software applications and the Microsoft Office Suite, with exposure to ERP systems such as Pronto desirable.
• A strong problem solver with excellent organisational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Passionate about safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• A natural leader who enjoys mentoring and developing junior engineers.
