Job summary

Entura is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Primary and Transmission Engineering team in Hobart. The role covers technical design, project management, bidding, and stakeholder engagement across HV and EHV power systems, with travel as needed.

Ideal candidates have 7–15 years post‑graduate experience in engineering design environments, with qualifications in Electrical Engineering and the ability to read single‑line diagrams, protection systems, and LV distribution design.

Qualifications

• Tertiary electrical engineering degree or equivalent.
• 7–15 years post‑grad experience in engineering design environments.
• Experience with HV/EHV power systems, protection, load flow, and arc flash.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of HV and EHV power system projects.
• Build trusted client relationships and provide expert engineering advice.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules and technical outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence across project teams.
• Support site inspections, testing and commissioning from concepts to completion.

About The Role

Entura is currently growing our teams to support our exciting pipeline of projects. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineerto be part of our Primary and Transmission Engineering team. Within this role, you'll undertake as range of technical and client facing activities covering project management, technical design, bidding and scoping activities, client negotiations and stakeholder management.

Salary from $150,466 plus super

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of HV and EHV power system projects.
• Build trusted client relationships and provide expert engineering advice.

The role is based in our Hobart office however flexible work arrangements are considered. Given the diversity of our clients and projects, there may be some local, national and international travel required.

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, acceptable for admission as a professional engineer to Engineers Australia, or equivalent professional body.
• 7-15 years relevant post-graduate experience with experience within an engineering design consultancy environment highly desirable.
• Experience in some of the following:
• Industrial, commercial, building services or utilities industries
• Cable design, sizing and selection
• Protection systems
• Variable Speed Drives
• Load flow and fault level studies
• Lighting design
• LV light and power distribution design
• Switchboard design and specification
• Lightning protection system design
• Primary equipment specifications and plant layouts
• Ability to read and develop single line diagrams
• Earthing system design, testing and analysis
• HV and LV distribution design
• Arc flash
• Abilities to solve complex technical and operational problems, with an innovative or a systematic approach.
• Experience with client and project management.
• Strong eagerness to develop skills and knowledge while utilising self-starter initiative to support individual projects and team outcomes.
