Job summary

Ampcontrol Limited is expanding its Data Centre and Mission Critical capabilities in Australia and seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex electrical systems for data centre projects.

You will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept through commissioning, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance with Australian standards.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
• Significant experience in electrical engineering and design, preferably within data centres, critical infrastructure or power systems.
• Strong knowledge of LV and MV distribution systems.
• Experience with critical power systems including UPS, generators, transformers, switchgear and protection systems.
• Experience taking projects from concept and design through to testing and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards and electrical regulations.
• Experience working with clients, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced engineers.

• Participate in FAT, SAT, integrated systems testing and commissioning activities.
• Identify and manage technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, codes, regulations and project requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of Ampcontrol's data centre and critical power capabilities.

As the demand for data and digital infrastructure continues to grow, we are expanding our capabilities in the Data Centre and Mission Critical sector. We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team and play a key role in delivering complex electrical and critical power solutions for data centre projects across Australia.

About the Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the full lifecycle of data centre and critical power projects, from concept and design through to testing, commissioning and handover.

Working closely with project managers, engineers, clients, contractors and OEMs, you will develop practical, reliable and compliant electrical solutions for highly critical environments where safety, availability and performance are paramount.

You will have the opportunity to work on a range of complex systems, including LV and MV distribution, utility and grid connections, transformers, switchboards, MV switchgear, UPS systems, battery energy storage, generators, protection and control systems.

What You Will Do

Lead the electrical engineering and design of data centre and mission-critical projects.

Develop electrical concepts, detailed designs, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.

Design and integrate LV/MV electrical distribution and critical power systems.

Work across utility/grid connections, transformers, switchgear, switchboards, UPS, batteries and standby generation.

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and project teams.

About You

You are an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys working on technically complex projects and thrives in environments where reliability and attention to detail are critical.

You will ideally have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
• Significant experience in electrical engineering and design, preferably within data centres, critical infrastructure, power systems or other mission-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of LV and MV electrical distribution systems.
• Experience with critical power systems including UPS, generators, transformers, switchgear and protection systems.

• Strong understanding of Australian Standards, electrical regulations and engineering practices.
