Job summary

Fyfe seeks a Senior Electrical Designer to lead Electrical Balance of Plant design for wind, solar and BESS projects across Australia. You will contribute to HV substations, grid connection and utility coordination within a national team.

You bring 8+ years' experience, a degree in Electrical Engineering, and strong MicroStation/AutoCAD and HV design skills. This role offers technical leadership and exposure to major energy infrastructure in Sydney and Melbourne.

The Opportunity

Fyfe's Power & Electrification Division works with major energy developers and infrastructure clients to deliver large-scale renewable energy and power infrastructure projects across Australia. From greenfield developments to the upgrade and expansion of existing networks, you'll contribute to projects that support Australia's energy transition.

As a Senior Electrical Designer, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP) projects for wind farms, solar farms and BESS developments, while also supporting the delivery of HV transmission and distribution infrastructure. This is an opportunity to work across a broad range of technical disciplines, collaborate with experienced engineers and designers, and contribute to some of Australia's most significant energy projects.

You'll be involved in HV substations, switchyards, underground and overhead reticulation systems, grid connection infrastructure and utility coordination activities. This role provides the opportunity to put your stamp on technically complex projects while working within a collaborative and highly capable national team.

The Impact You'll Have

• Deliver high-quality electrical design documentation for HV substations, utility infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
• Develop primary design deliverables including equipment layouts, cable routing, earthing systems, conduit layouts and detailed construction drawings.
• Support the successful coordination and delivery of multidisciplinary design packages to meet project and client requirements.
• Contribute to HV and LV power system designs, equipment selection and technical solutions for complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to enhance design quality, project delivery and technical outcomes.
• Help shape the delivery of renewable energy, transmission and power infrastructure projects that support Australia's evolving energy sector.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Designer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and delivering quality outcomes across a diverse project portfolio.

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years' experience within a design consultancy environment.
• Strong experience in HV substation design and detailed design delivery using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Experience delivering electrical engineering designs across renewable energy, transmission, substations, power generation, hydrogen, oil & gas or related energy sectors.
• Proven capability undertaking LV and HV power generation and distribution systems design, including equipment selection such as transformers, circuit breakers and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Experience completing HV and LV power system studies including load flow, short circuit, cable sizing, arc flash, discrimination and protection, earthing and harmonics assessments.
• Proficiency using electrical modelling software such as ETAP, EMTP or PSCAD.
• Strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards, including AS 2067, IEEE 80, AS/NZS 1768, AS 3000, AS 3008, IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

It would be great if you also have experience in High Voltage and Low Voltage Switchboard design in accordance with AS 61439 and exposure to instrumentation and control systems.
