Job description

Our client is a well-established renewable energy company with a proven track record of designing, building, owning and operating power generation assets across Australia. Their portfolio spans utility-scale renewable energy projects and critical power infrastructure that is shaping the nation's cleaner energy future.

As they continue to expand, they are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to carry out the design and delivery of complex electrical systems across their growing portfolio of renewable energy and energy storage projects.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs from concept through to commissioning. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable and innovative solutions are delivered on time and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical design for utility-scale renewable energy and power generation projects.
• Design and review Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Develop LV and MV switchroom designs.
• Perform power system studies including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and arc flash analysis.
• Design electrical systems for power stations and power generation facilities.
• Prepare technical specifications, design reports, single line diagrams, layouts and engineering documentation.
• Support procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards, industry regulations and network requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement within the engineering team.

About You

You are a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and takes pride in delivering practical, high-quality solutions.

You'll ideally have:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years' electrical design experience within power generation, utilities, renewable energy or heavy industrial sectors.
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• Switchrooms
• Power systems
• Power generation facilities and power stations
• Strong understanding of HV and MV electrical systems.
• Experience with power system modelling software such as ETAP, PowerFactory, PSCAD or similar.
• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and electrical design best practice.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Chartered status (or working towards it) will be highly regarded.
