Job summary

Join AECOM's ecological practice in Australia to deliver environmental solutions across provinces. You will lead ecology surveys, prepare impact assessments, and manage outcomes for diverse projects while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

You will contribute to client advisory, reporting, and innovative ecological approaches, with flexible and hybrid work options, and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of flora/fauna and ecological communities, especially in Queensland; NSW/NT experience a plus.
  • Lead project delivery, client engagement, mentoring across field and office work.
  • Experience in environmental approvals and impact assessment reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or Natural Resource Management.
  • Proficiency with GIS tools, especially ArcGIS Pro, is advantageous.
  • Willingness to undertake fieldwork across Queensland; valid C-class license and 4WD experience.

AECOM's environmental practice is dedicated to helping industries, clients and governments meet their environmental responsibilities while protecting the natural environment. We provide advisory and technical services to ensure compliance, manage impacts, and reduce risks, including obtaining permits and approvals, decommissioning and restoring contaminated sites, and tackling climate change challenges and resilience. We focus on preserving habitats, water quality, stakeholder engagement and cultural resources, promoting a holistic approach to environmental impact management at every project stage.

How you'll make a difference:

  • Ecological impact assessment and offsetting for a range of projects and scale, and supporting internal clients with delivering the ecological requirements within multi-disciplinary tenders and projects
  • Working independently, or with a team of ecologists, in the planning, delivery and management of ecology surveys; analysis and evaluation of results, impact assessments, and the design and implementation of successful mitigation strategies
  • Provide excellent client service through risk-based strategic advice and high-quality technical reporting
  • Identify and implement efficiencies and digital solutions to collaborate and work smarter
  • Support the team's strategic growth, technical excellence, and innovation in ecological assessments.
  • Assisting withproject management, including the technical and financial performance of ecological projects.
Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge inflora, fauna and ecological communities in Queensland (6+ years), with experience in NSW or NT advantageous.
  • Ability to lead project delivery, engage with clients, and mentor a high-performingteam across field and office-based work.
  • Experience in environmental approval processes and impact assessment reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with GIS tools such as ESRI ArcGIS Pro advantageous.
  • Willingness to undertake fieldwork across Queensland, with a valid Class C driver's license and 4WD experience.
