Job summary

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Melbourne seeks a Solicitor or Senior Associate (4–7 PQE) to join our premier Band 1 Capital Market Transactions team. You will handle cross-border IPOs, capital raisings, and public/private M&A with leading partners, contributing to high-profile deals and cross-border work.

You will draft and negotiate key documents, advise clients, and collaborate with regulators and advisers to deliver integrated services.

Qualifications

• Admission to practice as a lawyer in Australia or New Zealand.
• 4–7 years’ experience in capital markets or a leading M&A practice.
• Strong academic record with excellent drafting skills and a commercial approach.

Responsibilities

• Be involved in all aspects of corporate ECM and public and private M&A transactions, including drafting and negotiating key transaction documents and providing advice on all areas of the transaction to clients.
• Work closely with clients, their other advisers and regulators.
• Ensure deadlines are met and coordinate with other legal teams and external advisers to deliver an integrated service.
• Assist in building external client relationships and participate in business development for existing and new clients.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers in the team, supporting their development.
