Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Engineer – Earthing and Bonding to join our Design & Delivery Organisation’s Electrical Delivery team in Australia. Bring your deep expertise in earthing, bonding, substations, and transmission and distribution infrastructure to major projects across energy and resources, water, and transportation.

You will deliver design packages, review drawings, mentor colleagues, and help prepare proposals while working within a collaborative, safety‑driven environment that values

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Chartered Engineer status or progress.
• Substantial experience in detailed design of transmission and distribution infrastructure.
• At least five years in earthing and bonding design and related fields.
• Experience with reporting, drawings and specifications for energy projects.
• Understanding of project development lifecycle and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver earthing, bonding and related projects from concept through construction and commissioning.
• Prepare and review design drawings, technical reports, inspection and test plans.
• Manage design and quality of work packages with client-side engineers.
• Develop technical resources and provide training to build engineering capability.
• Estimate and prepare tenders and proposals for electrical scopes of work.
• Collaborate with colleagues across GHD offices to pursue and deliver opportunities.
• Perform site inspections and prepare reports for proposals and construction activities.

We’re seeking for a Senior Engineer – Earthing and Bonding to join our Design & Delivery Organisation’s Electrical Delivery team. Bring your specialist earthing and bonding experience to major Australian and global projects across renewable energy, power networks, transport, resources and critical infrastructure. Working with public utilities, government authorities, private developers, asset owners and industrial operators, you’ll gain exposure across GHD’s global markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation.

Working with a collaborative and capable team, you will:

• Deliver earthing, bonding and related projects from concept through construction and commissioning.
• Prepare and review design drawings, technical reports, inspection and test plans, and other project deliverables.
• Manage the design and quality of work packages, collaborating with client-side engineers through design reviews and workshops, technical issue resolution and progress updates to support strong engineering, commercial and client outcomes.
• Develop technical resources and provide training and mentoring to build engineering capability.
• Estimate and prepare tenders and proposals for electrical scopes of work.
• Collaborate with colleagues across GHD offices to pursue and deliver project opportunities.
• Perform site inspections and prepare reports for proposals, design delivery and construction activities.

What you will bring to the team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status, or active progress towards obtaining it.
• Substantial relevant experience in the detailed design of transmission and distribution infrastructure, including substations, overhead lines and underground cable systems, with experience preparing associated reports, drawings and specifications.
• At least five years’ experience in earthing and bonding design, electrolysis assessment, lightning protection design, electromagnetic field studies and electromagnetic compatibility design across energy and resources, transportation, and property and buildings.
• A thorough understanding of the project development lifecycle.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative approach, with a willingness to share knowledge, mentor others and contribute to team capability.
• The ability to work autonomously, seek input when needed and manage competing priorities effectively.
• Demonstrated experience preparing or leading successful proposals and marketing pursuits.
• Sound judgement, supported by proactive analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong time and commercial management skills, with the ability to deliver multiple projects within budget while maintaining effective internal and external client relationships.
