Job summary

Peabody is seeking an experienced Senior Drill and Blast Engineer to join the Technical Services team at Coppabella Mine in Moranbah, QLD. You will provide technical leadership across drill and blast activities to deliver safe, productive, and cost-effective outcomes.

Work closely with operations and contractors, mentor engineers, and influence short- to long-term planning. The role offers a chance to shape blasting practices and drive continuous improvement within a world-class Bowen Basin

Qualifications

Significant open cut mining experience with drill and blast engineering capability.
Experience with drill and blast design, optimisation and industry software such as Vulcan and BlastLogic.
Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring and developing technical teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence operational outcomes.
Excellent communication with a broad range of stakeholders and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and optimisation of drill and blast programs to maximise productivity and operational performance.
Provide technical leadership and governance across drill and blast activities and risk controls.
Monitor blast outcomes and identify continuous improvement opportunities across cost, productivity and compliance measures.
Lead investigations into drill and blast events and implement effective corrective actions.
Mentor and coach Drill and Blast Engineers, building technical capability within the team.
Provide strategic drill and blast advice that supports operational and long-term mine planning.
