CSL Behring is seeking a Senior Director, Physician Scientist – Immunology & Translational Medicine. The role is hybrid with onsite three days a week in Melbourne, Australia, or Waltham, MA.

You will be a hands‑on clinical SME embedded with the research team, translating preclinical work into clinical development and shaping program strategy. You will lead disease area expertise, target prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration to advance immunology assets, with BD and regulatory input

Qualifications

• Hands-on bench-to-bedside research mindset translating preclinical data into clinical strategy.
• Drug development experience in biotech/pharma/academic environments.
• Experience evaluating preclinical and clinical data packages for go/no-go decisions.
• Strong ability to synthesize complex scientific data and communicate strategy to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Act as hands-on clinical SME for immunology disease areas (rheumatology preferred; neuroimmunology/dermatology acceptable).
• Translate mechanistic immune pathology into actionable hypotheses and target identification strategies.
• Prioritize therapeutic targets and build out clinical development plans with project teams.
• Lead IND-enabling studies, POC designs, and Phase 1/1b protocol development with study teams.
• Bridge preclinical science and clinical relevance to shape program design and go/no-go decisions.
• Define disease-relevant biomarkers and patient stratification strategies for early programs.
• Collaborate with Research Therapeutic Area Lead and core immunology team to prioritize targets.
