Alice Springs
One full time ongoing vacancy is available
Apply your clinical dental and management skills to provide high-quality comprehensive services to eligible client groups in Central Australia.

Oral Health Service in Central Australia (OHSCA) provides a range of oral health services, community education programs and targeted services to clients with chronic diseases and special needs. OHSCA is accredited with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and collaborates with the Menzies School of Health Research and the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health in multi-centre research programs.

As the Senior Dentist Manager, your primary objective will be to manage the effective delivery of a client centred oral health service to eligible groups in Central Australia in accordance with Oral Health Service policies, procedures and guidelines; and to be involved in planning and policy development. You will also be required to plan, implement, manage, monitor, evaluate and report on services provided at Flynn Drive Dental Centre (FDDC), including those of visiting specialists, in conjunction with the Clinical Manager.

Your key duties involve providing high-quality comprehensive clinical services to eligible client groups, both adults and children, in urban, rural and remote areas including consultancy advice on complex cases and liaising with relevant Oral Health Service managers to coordinate staff for the efficient and effective daily running of urban services.

In addition, you are responsible for the supervision and mentoring of final year dental students on clinical placement during the academic year, the professional and line management of urban dental officers and select non-dentist employees. You will also be required to contribute to the formulation of operational and clinical plans, policies, procedures and guidelines, and foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role‑modeling behaviour.

To be successful

you are required to be an accomplished dentist with recency of practice and full registration with the Dental Board of Australia, experienced in clinical diagnosis and treatment planning with demonstrated ability to lead and manage a multi‑chair clinic.

Demonstrated understanding of and familiarity with quality improvement processes, current infection control protocols and the ability to work within a cross‑cultural environment and interact effectively with people of diverse cultures is essential.

We understand the challenges in the Territory’s health and community care are unlike anywhere else, but so are the opportunities. In return you will receive a competitive remuneration package inclusive of 12% superannuation, 6 weeks annual recreation leave, 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible work agreements, real career development opportunities and supported study leave.

Consider the Territory.

If you reside interstate, this a great time to consider relocating to Central Australia.

Alice Springs (or Mparntwe in Arrernte language) is the third-largest town in the Northern Territory, with a population of approximately 33,000 people. The Region has deep spiritual origins dating back more than 30,000 years, and an abundance of rich culture and history. The town is surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including the MacDonnell Ranges and the Red Centre Desert. About 450kms down the road is Uluru, a large sandstone rock formation that is a spectacular sight any time of the year.
