Job summary

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service’s Emerald Community Dental Clinic seeks an experienced Senior Dentist to lead and supervise a multidisciplinary oral health team while continuing hands-on clinical care.

The role focuses on complex cases, mentoring dental staff and contributing to service planning and quality improvement across Central Queensland's Oral Health Services, with occasional travel to other CQHHS facilities.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Dentist with AHPRA and a current annual practising certificate is mandatory.
• Licence to use radiation apparatus for dental purposes is required.
• Advanced general dental skills with ability to provide clinical leadership, mentoring and supervision within a multidisciplinary team.

About us:

Central Queensland Oral Health Service provides accessible, evidence-based dental care to eligible communities across the region, with a network of community, fixed and mobile dental clinics throughout Central Queensland.

Based primarily at Emerald Community Dental Clinic, you'll join a supportive multidisciplinary Oral Health team committed to high-quality public dental care, professional development and creating a positive environment for both patients and staff.

About the role:

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Dentist seeking a senior role without the commitment of a traditional full-time position.

As Senior Dentist, you'll combine hands‑on clinical practice with clinical leadership, mentoring and operational support for the Emerald Oral Health team. You'll provide high-quality general dental services, manage more complex clinical presentations and support the development of dentists, dental students and other oral health clinicians.

You'll also contribute to service planning, patient flow, quality improvement and the broader strategic direction of Oral Health Services across Central Queensland. The position is primarily based in Emerald, with occasional work or travel to other CQHHS Oral Health facilities where required.

About you:

You're an experienced Dentist who enjoys both clinical practice and supporting others to develop. You'll bring advanced general dental skills, confidence managing complex cases and the ability to provide clinical leadership, mentoring and supervision within a multidisciplinary oral health team.

You'll have strong communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of public health dentistry and the ability to work independently while contributing to quality improvement and effective service delivery.

Current registration as a Dentist with AHPRA and a current annual practising certificate are mandatory, along with a licence to use radiation apparatus for dental purposes.

Total remuneration value of up to $1,704 p.m. is comprised of:

• An hourly rate between $79.95 - $85.88 p.h.
