Job summary

KBR, Inc in Australia is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to sustain specialised fleets within the Land Engineering Agency. You will define design requirements, manage configurations, and ensure certification compliance while mentoring graduate engineers.

Ideal candidates bring a mechanical or electrical engineering background, Victorian registration, and substantial Systems Engineering experience in Defence settings, with a track record in V&V planning and leadership.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Victorian state registered Engineer.
• Experience developing and executing Systems Engineering Management Plans.
• Hands‑on configuration management experience.
• Knowledge of DOORs and ASDEFCON contracting framework.
• AGSVA Baseline security clearance with ability to obtain NV1.
• Desirable 5+ years in Defence Systems Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to chair Change Control Boards and Risk Management Meetings.
• Experience in requirements management and system design documentation.
• Experience in Systems Safety and WHS planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee technical investigations and instructions for platform systems with vetting of engineering data.
• Define design requirements aligned with engineering change and configuration management.
• Serve as Design Acceptance Representative for reviews and Engineering Support Reports.
• Lead major upgrade projects delivering to scope, schedule and quality.
• Comply with Authorised Engineering Organisation standards and CAM plans.
• Support CoA requirements through design work and verification.
• Develop and review technical work instructions and maintenance schedules.
• Deliver high‑quality engineering outputs per contract requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and practices.
• Build relationships with customers and suppliers and mentor graduates.
