Job summary

XPT Software Australia PTY Ltd is seeking an experienced Broadcom Datacom DBA to provide backup coverage across Phoenix project development and non-production environments. Qualifications

• At least 10 years hands-on experience installing, administering, supporting and tuning Broadcom Datacom databases.
• Recent active experience as a Datacom DBA, not just historical knowledge.
• Experience building, refreshing and maintaining Datacom databases and environments.
• Strong troubleshooting across database, performance and environmental issues.
• Experience supporting application development and testing in complex IBM mainframe setups.

Rolepurpose

Werequire an experienced Broadcom Datacom DBA consultant to provideadditional specialist capacity and backup coverage for the existing DatacomDBA supporting the Phoenix project.

Theprimary purpose of the role is to remove the project’s dependency on a singleDatacom DBA resource and ensure that suitably skilled DBA coverage isavailable throughout development, testing and implementation preparation.

Mostactivities will be performed in non-production environments,supporting the development and testing teams and maintaining the Datacomenvironments required for Phoenix delivery. This is a hands-on DBA rolerequiring current practical experience administering, building, refreshing,diagnosing and tuning Datacom databases.

Keyresponsibilities

• Provide effective backup and capacity supportfor the existing Datacom DBA.
• Administerand maintain Datacom databases across Phoenix non-production environments.
• Build,configure, refresh and reset Datacom databases and environments to support developmentand testing.
• Diagnose andresolve database faults, data-access issues, environmental problems andperformance concerns.
• Supportdevelopers and testers with database availability, data preparation,troubleshooting and technical analysis.
• Undertakedatabase installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patchingactivities where required.
• Monitor andtune Datacom databases to maintain appropriate reliability and performance.
• Supportdatabase backup, recovery, restore and integrity-validation activities.
• Investigatecomplex issues involving Datacom databases, application access, batchprocessing and non-production environments.
• Supportpreparation for test cycles, implementation rehearsals, migration activitiesand production readiness.
• Maintainappropriate DBA procedures, configuration records and operationaldocumentation.
• Shareknowledge and maintain sufficient visibility of database activities to ensurecontinuity when the existing Datacom DBA is unavailable.
• Provideproduction support or implementation assistance where specifically required,although the primary focus will remain on non-production delivery.

Mandatoryexperience and capabilities

• At least 10 years of substantial hands-onexperience installing, administering, supporting and tuning Broadcom Datacomdatabases.
• Recent andactive experience working as a Datacom DBA, rather than relying only onhistorical Datacom knowledge.
• Demonstratedexperience building, refreshing, restoring, reconfiguring and maintainingDatacom databases and environments.
• Strongtroubleshooting capability, including diagnosis and resolution of database,performance, integrity and environmental issues.
• Strongunderstanding of Datacom database structures, utilities, operationalprocesses, backup and recovery.
• Experiencesupporting application development, system testing, integration testing andimplementation activities.
• Experienceadministering Datacom in complex IBM mainframe environments.
• Abilityto work independently and provide credible backup coverage for an experiencedDatacom DBA.
• Strongcommunication and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectivelywith developers, testers, infrastructure specialists and application supportteams.
• Experience supporting Datacom applicationswithin banking, insurance or another highly regulated environment.
• Experiencesupporting significant application migration, remediation or database-decommissioninginitiatives.
• Experiencesupporting data extraction, transformation, reconciliation and databasemigration activities.
• Familiaritywith mainframe scheduling, batch processing and performance-monitoringtoolsets.
