Job summary

Quantium seeks a Senior Data Scientist, AI Solutions to lead production-grade GenAI/LLM applications from concept to client handover. You will design, implement and validate AI solutions, leveraging LangChain/LangGraph, Python, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Bring 5+ years in data science or AI consulting, strong Python, and a pragmatic delivery mindset to drive impact for Australia's largest organisations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data science, AI/ML development or technical consulting.
• Hands-on experience building LLM applications with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar.
• Strong Python skills with software engineering practices and cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of GenAI/LLM applications from design to client handover.
• Architect cloud-native solutions on AWS, Azure or GCP with appropriate tooling.

As a Senior Data Scientist, AI Solutions you are responsible for designing and delivering production-grade generative AI applications for some of Australia's largest organisations, taking ownership of solutions from initial design through to client handover.

With 23 years of domain expertise, proprietary data partnerships, and industry-leading AI adoption (90% weekly active usage), this is an exciting opportunity to join our AI Solutions team in a hands-on technical role.

You will combine deep technical expertise in large language models (LLMs), machine learning, and modern cloud technologies with a consultative mindset, working alongside talented data scientists, engineers, and client teams to solve complex business problems. How will you make an impact?

• Technical ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of production-grade GenAI and LLM applications, from initial design through to client handover, using Python and frameworks like LangChain and LangGraph
• Architectural judgement: Make informed decisions on the right approach for each problem, whether classical ML, LLM prompts, workflows or agents, and architect cloud-native solutions on AWS, Azure or GCP
• Solution quality: Design evaluation frameworks and observability metrics, and build the APIs and data pipelines (SQL, DBT, orchestration tools) that keep solutions reliable in production
• Client engagement: Partner with clients and domain experts to understand problems and validate approaches, translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and flagging risks and trade-offs early
• Team and growth: Lead code reviews, mentor junior team members and contribute to our technical standards, while supporting business development through technical scoping, solution design and proposals

The superpowers you'll be bringing to the team:

• Proven AI delivery: 5 or more years of experience in data science, AI/ML development or technical consulting, with a track record of delivering production-grade AI/ML solutions end to end
• Generative AI expertise: Hands-on experience building LLM applications with LangChain, LangGraph or similar, and a strong understanding of how LLMs and transformer architectures work under the hood, so you know when to apply different approaches and make smart architectural decisions
• Engineering excellence: Strong Python skills with solid software engineering practices (testing, code quality, version control), plus hands-on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP) and containerisation (Docker)
• Data foundations: Working knowledge of SQL and data pipelines, with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Vertex AI Pipelines and DBT a bonus
• Delivery mindset: The ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatism, navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities and consistently deliver quality solutions
• Communication: The ability to explain complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and build trusted relationships with client teams, ideally with experience in consulting or client-facing delivery
• Bonus: Familiarity with ML algorithms (GBM, GLM) and experimentation frameworks such as A/B testing, and contributions to open source or technical communities
