Job summary

Allume Energy is building SolOS, the data backbone for SolShare, unlocking energy optimisation for apartment buildings. You will join a growing Data & Analytics team as Senior Data Engineer / Team Lead, turning real-world energy data into forecasts and schedules used by SolShare.

You’ll lead data architecture, modelling, and reliable data pipelines while staying hands-on in Python and SQL. This role offers hybrid work from Melbourne with strong growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Solid production Python and SQL skills with time-series data.
• Experience building and operating production data pipelines.
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational DB.
• Experience designing data models from discovery to solution.
• Experience shipping data products or production data systems.
• Cloud platform experience, preferably AWS, and strong software practices.
• Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders to translate problems.
• Experience leading or hiring engineers and staying hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis of existing energy data systems and propose improvements.
• Define a practical data architecture for SolOS and implement it.
• Design and own data models to support forecasting and reporting.
• Own data quality across the fleet for reliable analytics.
• Build and operate data pipelines with validation and monitoring.
• Develop forecasts used for solar and battery dispatch.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production data systems as the fleet grows.
• Work with PostgreSQL, InfluxDB/Chronograf, AWS IoT Core + Timestream.
• Collaborate with Product and contractors to turn needs into delivery plans.
• Promote engineering best practices: testing, version control, deployment.
• Lead, mentor, and stay hands-on in Python and SQL.
