Job summary

Mantel Group, an Australian-owned IT professional services consultancy, seeks an experienced Analytics Engineer to join our Managed Services team in a hybrid Sydney role. You will work with our 150+ data specialists to design and maintain data platforms, pipelines and dashboards across client environments.

The role focuses on enabling reliable data solutions, monitoring, on-call support, and collaboration with clients, partners and stakeholders while upholding Mantel's five principles.

Qualifications

• Hands-on data role experience (Data Engineer or DBA).
• Experience in production support with SLAs.
• Experience with data technologies to manage platforms/pipelines.
• Cloud platform and infrastructure experience.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical data solutions.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Qlik, Tableau or equivalent).
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Managed Services

Mantel Group’s dedicated Managed Services team provides support, engineering and maintenance across cloud, data and software engineer services for modern technology platforms. Our team is expanding our data managed services capability, and looking for a passionate Analytics Engineer to help build that area. The Analytics Engineer will work closely with Mantel Group’s Data team of 150+ data specialists to deliver, manage, support and continuously improve data solutions using a wide range of technologies, with the goal of transforming the way our clients experience data.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced data specialist to join our Managed Services team and help build our data managed services and support offering.

Collaborate with clients to understand their data needs and provide technical solutions for data-related challenges

Troubleshoot, maintain and enhance existing data platforms, ingestion pipelines, and data infrastructure

Design and implement solutions to improve data pipeline reliability and efficiency

Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems

Document technical solutions, troubleshooting procedures, and best practices

Participate in on-call rotation to provide emergency support for critical production issues

Be a point of escalation for high severity incidents as they occur

Liaise with the managed services team, clients, technology partners and stakeholders to develop backlogs for continuous improvement

Use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our five Mantel principles

What you’ll need to be successful:

Prior experience in a hands-on data role - either as a Data Engineer or in related roles such as a Database Administrator (DBA)

Experience in production support environments with established SLAs

Experience working on a range of data technologies to manage data platforms and pipelines

Cloud platform and infrastructure experience

Client-focused consulting skills, including the ability to understand client needs, translate business requirements into practical technical solutions, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, manage expectations and build trusted client relationships

Exposure to reporting and visualisation layers, using tools such as Power BI, Qlik, Tableau or equivalent

Networking skills relevant to data platforms and cloud environments, including connectivity, DNS, security groups/firewalls and troubleshooting

Data modelling experience across relational, dimensional/star-schema, data warehouse/lakehouse and/or NoSQL approaches

Proficiency in implementing, supporting and developing several of the following tools and technologies:

Data lakehouse technologies (such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery or Synapse)

DevOps / source control / orchestration tools (such as Git, Azure DevOps, dbt or Airflow)

Languages (preferably SQL, with python being nice to have)

Passion for "learning on the job" and being hands-on across a range of evolving data technologies

Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement

Strong attention to detail even while working across different clients

Clear communication skills, both technical and non-technical

Ability to take ownership and use good judgement to achieve positive client outcomes
