Bendigo Bank is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the evolution of its data platform on Google Cloud Platform. You will shape robust data pipelines and modern analytics, mentoring squads and driving best practices in dbt modelling and CI/CD automation.
Join a cross-functional, agile team as part of a broader shift toward a modern technology organisation. The role blends architecture, engineering, and governance to deliver scalable, secure data products for customers worldwide.
We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.
Working in a cross-functional, agile team, our Engineers deliver, support, and continuously improve high-quality technology solutions that create meaningful outcomes for Bendigo Bank and its customers.
This role is part of our shift toward becoming a modern technology organisation. We aspire to operate through Team Topologies-aligned teams that are empowered, customer-focused, and measured by their ability to deliver safely, quickly, and reliably.
As a Senior Data Engineer (dbt & GCP Pioneer), you will serve as a technical anchor and subject matter expert driving the evolution of our enterprise data products on our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Lakehouse. You will set the standard for Modern Analytics Engineering-architecting robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines using dbt Core/Cloud and Data Vault 2.0/Dimensional/medallion architecture on BigQuery.
We are looking for a practitioner who goes beyond routine pipeline maintenance - someone who pioneers best-in‑class dbt modelling standards, champions CI/CD automation, optimizes BigQuery performance and cost, and mentors squads in building high‑performing data products.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, located at any of our Head Office locations.
We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team. We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.
We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.
Research suggests 60% of women and underrepresented groups might stop here, even after getting as far as drafting an application. We believe that diversity makes every team stronger, so even if you don’t tick every box we still want to see your application!
