Job summary

Lendi Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team building AI-driven data systems for the property, mortgage and financial services domain in Australia.

You will design, develop and deploy scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, and governance frameworks while collaborating with data analysts, scientists and business stakeholders to deliver measurable impact.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of data engineering experience with modern development practices.
  • Proficiency in SQL with Snowflake/Databricks and ETL tools.
  • Familiarity with SQL and Python.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing and data modelling.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain and support scalable data pipelines using modern data engineering practices and Agile delivery.
  • Develop, test and deploy cloud-based data warehouse solutions using Snowflake and Databricks with ETL tools like dbt, Airflow, Spark, Python.
  • Optimise data pipelines and BI solutions for performance, scalability and reliability.
  • Ensure data governance, quality, and compliance across platforms.
  • Document systems, share design guides, and mentor other engineers.

Job Description

Lendi Group is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer that will be part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team that will be designing, developing, and deploying AI systems that drive agentic AI Automation within the property buying and owning, mortgage broking and financial services sector. You will work at the intersection of AI, data, software engineering, and financial services, building cutting-edge solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer experiences.

You will be reporting to a newly formed team within Lendi Group that is focused on AI driven initiatives, working side-by-side with a high performing, knowledgeable and fun team.

Key responsibilities
Data Engineering
  • Design, develop, maintain and support scalable data pipelines using modern data engineering practices and Agile delivery.
  • Apply data analysis, data modelling, solution design and architecture principles to deliver new solutions and enhance existing pipelines and models.
  • Develop, test and deploy cloud-based data warehouse solutions using technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, S3 and PostgreSQL, with ETL tools including dbt, Airflow, Spark and Python.
  • Utilise cloud infrastructure and CI/CD tooling (e.g. AWS, Terraform, Docker), with exposure to streaming data and AI/ML technologies (e.g. MLflow, SageMaker, Bedrock, LangChain) considered advantageous.
Performance Optimisation
  • Optimise data pipelines and BI solutions for performance, scalability and reliability while implementing best practices across design, testing, documentation and maintenance.
Data Governance
  • Ensure compliance with data governance standards and maintain high levels of data quality, accuracy and completeness.
Documentation & Support
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, contribute to design guides and training materials, and provide ongoing support for issue and incident resolution.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with cross-functional Agile teams, data analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions aligned to business needs.
  • Mentor other engineers, contribute to engineering standards, and provide input into solution design and technical direction.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of data engineering experience with modern development practices
  • Proficiency in SQL with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks) and experience with ETL tools and processes.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL and Python
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modelling techniques.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in AI, emerging technologies and greenfield work.
