Cyber Security Assessor / Auditor (NV1 Cleared)

Location :

Canberra - onsite 5 days per week

Melbourne / Adelaide / Sydney / Brisbane - onsite 3 days per week

Security Clearance : NV1 minimum

Work Environment : No personal electronic devices permitted on site

Remuneration : $140K-$170K + Super

Contract Type : Fixed-term contract from mid-January through to October 2026 , with a strong view to extension and converting to the perm staff . This fixed-term contract allows you to enjoy the benefits typically associated with permanent roles.

About the Role

A leading Australian cyber security consultancy is seeking experienced and security-cleared Cyber Security Assessors and Senior Assessors / Auditors to support cyber assessments, audit activities, and security maturity uplift programs within secure Defence-related and government environments.

You will play a key role in strengthening security controls, improving governance practices, and ensuring compliance in high-assurance settings. This is a hands-on assessment and audit role working across some of Australia's most sensitive ICT environments.

Key Responsibilities (All Levels)
  • Conduct cyber security assessments and / or audits of systems, policies, and control frameworks
  • Review and analyse security documentation, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending remediation
  • Prepare assessment reports, audit findings, and technical documentation
  • Support cyber maturity uplift projects and compliance initiatives
  • Engage with stakeholders to improve governance, assurance, and risk management
  • Assist with strengthening organisational security posture in highly regulated environments
Role Levels

Cyber Security Assessor (Intermediate Level)

Key Duties
  • Conduct technical and policy-based risk assessments across ICT environments
  • Identify security gaps and assess maturity levels using industry frameworks
  • Provide cyber advisory services and support remediation and uplift initiatives
You Bring
  • Experience conducting cyber assessments or audits in government, Defence, or critical infrastructure environments
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as the ACSC Essential Eight , ISO27001 , NIST 800-171
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and high-quality technical writing skills
Senior Cyber Security Assessor / Auditor
Key Duties
  • Lead cyber audits across multiple domains or business units
  • Provide strategic security advice to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develop and refine audit frameworks and uplift methodologies
  • Present findings to executive stakeholders and lead risk mitigation efforts
  • Coordinate audit teams and mentor junior assessors
You Bring
  • Extensive experience conducting cyber security assessments in secure or regulated environments
  • Deep understanding of governance, risk, and assurance frameworks
  • Demonstrated leadership in planning and delivering large-scale audits
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CEH , or similar
