Job summary

Darwin Private Hospital, part of Healthscope Hospitals, seeks a Full‑time Senior Instrument Technician for the CSSD team. The role focuses on sterilising, cleaning, packing and tracking instruments for theatre and clinical areas, with QA testing and risk management support.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience working in a hospital CSSD.
• Knowledge of AS/NZ 4187 2014.
• Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation.
• Experience with tracking systems.
• Endoscopy reprocessing experience or willingness to learn.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the standards of sterilising practice and infection control are followed at all times.
• Clean, wash, pack, wrap and sterilise reusable instruments, equipment and consumables used in operating theatre and clinical areas.
• Perform, interpret, document and oversee QA tests on instrument washers and sterilisers to ensure performance to AS/NZS 4187 standards.
• Coordinate loan sets receipt, packaging, and entry into the facility tracking system with Stores and nursing teams.
• Provide relief support during absences and assist in risk management and quality improvement projects.
