Are you looking for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? We are searching for a Counsellor to live and work onsite at Yulara, NT which is 20 min drive from Uluru, one of Australia's most iconic and culturally significant landmarks.

About the team

The Voyages’ Wellbeing Team facilitates culturally safe evidence-based initiatives to enhance the social, emotional, spiritual and cultural wellbeing of all staff members working at Ayers Rock Resort. The team has a strong focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, including trainees in the on-site residential National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA). The team develops and delivers outcomes through professional counselling services, dynamic activities program, staff training opportunities and the residential support program for NITA trainees.

About the role

As a Counsellor, you’ll provide therapeutic support and counselling to residents of Yulara, helping to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive community. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team including a General Manager of Wellbeing, fellow Counsellors, an Activities Coordinator, Youth Worker, and Residential Support Manager.

The key duties of the role include:

  • Deliver therapeutic assessment, counselling, debriefing, critical-incident support and psycho-education using a trauma-informed, person-centred SEWB model.
  • Support staff and their families by providing confidential sessions tailored to a range of emotional, behavioural, relational and wellbeing needs.
  • Keep accurate and professional records, session notes and program data while working closely with specialist services in Yulara, Alice Springs and regional areas.
  • Collaborate with the wellbeing team and other departments to deliver mental health programs, awareness sessions and accessible outreach initiatives.
  • Build trusted relationships across the resort community and with external partners to support program outcomes.
  • Develop, implement and review individual support plans with appropriate follow-up and referrals.
About you

You are an experienced practitioner. You understand the unique and diverse strengths and challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with a willingness and capacity to listen and learn.

You’ll also bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in social work, counselling, psychology or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering individual and group counselling across issues such as trauma, grief, mental health, relationships and substance misuse.
  • Confidence in case management, advocacy, safety planning and coordinating referrals.
  • The ability to communicate clearly, support residents through challenging situations and maintain strong professional boundaries.
  • A genuine commitment to building wellbeing in a remote, culturally rich community setting.
