Job summary

Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage and support Aboriginal heritage projects from initial assessment through to project completion, delivering high quality services to our clients. The position will provide support for a heritage team with numerous projects that traverse Historic and Aboriginal cultural heritage in Western Australia.

  • Research digital resources and archives, and use repositories such as the State Library and State Records Office.
  • Conduct field surveys to photograph and document physical attributes of places.
  • Manage and collate data, including ensuring quality and accuracy of data.

Our team is based in Subiaco office and we offer all employees hybrid working arrangements. This role requires attendance at our office or client offices on part days of the week, and occasional travel within WA regions.

Experience
  • Undergraduate Degree in History, Anthropology, Architecture, Archaeology, Aboriginal Studies or any related qualification.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a heritage-related role or related consultancy experience.
  • Consultancy and/or client management experience, including the ability to negotiate outcomes with key stakeholders and manage expectations.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Experience in historical/anthropological/Aboriginal heritage reporting such as cultural context reports, heritage surveys, heritage assessments, regulatory frameworks and heritage management.
  • Clear understanding of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 (WA).
  • Knowledge of heritage legislation at local and state level.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, and ability to present strategies and material to influence outcomes.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with Aboriginal, Community Leaders and broad stakeholders is highly desirable.
