Job summary

The Garvan Institute of Medical Research invites applications for a Senior Computational Biologist or Bioinformatician to lead a defined program within the AllClear initiative. You will design and drive deep learning and ML workflows to study dormant cancer cells, oversee large-scale multi-omics analyses, and collaborate with international partners.

You will supervise junior staff and contribute to grant-supported research.

Qualifications

• PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, ML, applied maths, statistics, CS or related field.
• 5+ years postdoctoral or equivalent experience with independent project leadership.
• Strong publication, grant-writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel ML pipelines for multi-omic analysis of dormant cancer cells.
• Lead computational biology projects and contribute to publications.
• Coordinate international collaborations and partner with labs and consortia.
• Mentor junior computational staff and manage analyses, methods and data governance.
• Advance AllClear datasets with reproducible workflows and foundation models.
