Job summary

Change Recruitment is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join a software business on a 12-month fixed-term contract with hybrid working arrangements.

The role focuses on building secure AWS environments, automating infrastructure, and strengthening security while supporting critical applications. You will collaborate with software, infrastructure, and security teams to tackle complex cloud challenges and raise engineering standards across the platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infra Engineering or SRE.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and managing production AWS environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure across multiple environments.
• Manage core AWS services, including VPC, IAM, EC2, ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora and networking.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• Improve infrastructure automation, deployment processes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strengthen platform reliability through monitoring, disaster recovery, backups and high-availability solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and support production incident resolution.
• Implement cloud security controls, access management and infrastructure governance.
• Identify opportunities to optimise AWS performance, resource utilisation and cloud costs.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers.

The Opportunity

We're working with an established software business looking for an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to help manage, modernise and strengthen its cloud infrastructure.

This is a hands‑on engineering position focused on building reliable AWS environments, improving automation, strengthening security and supporting business‑critical applications.

You'll work alongside software engineers, infrastructure specialists and security teams, taking ownership of complex technical challenges while helping improve engineering standards across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• 5+ years in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering or SRE.
• Strong hands‑on experience designing and managing production AWS environments.
• AWS networking, identity management, security and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with ECS/Fargate, RDS or other AWS database services.
• Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• Experience supporting highly available production systems, monitoring and incident response.
• Scripting and automation using Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

Highly Regarded

• Experience with Windows Server and hybrid cloud environments.
• Exposure to Azure infrastructure.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup strategies and platform resilience.
• Experience operating within regulated or security‑conscious environments.
• Familiarity with ISO 27001 or SOC 2 security controls.
• AWS cost optimisation and FinOps experience.
• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership.
