The Opportunities

The Senior Cloud Solution Engineer (Azure) is a senior technical role responsible for designing, building and delivering secure, scalable and reliable cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure, in alignment with enterprise architecture principles and standards. The role translates business and architectural requirements into practical cloud designs, delivers Azure landing zones and workloads using Infrastructure as Code, and improves delivery speed and quality through automation and AI assisted engineering practices.

The role provides technical leadership across cloud solution design and implementation, working closely with architects, security, infrastructure and delivery teams. It ensures solutions are secure, resilient, cost effective and production ready, applies safe and responsible use of AI enabled engineering tools, and supports effective transition of solutions into operational support.

To do this successfully you will
  • Design secure, scalable and resilient Azure cloud solutions across networking, identity, compute, storage, security and platform services, translating business and enterprise architecture requirements into deployable, compliant and supportable designs.
  • Build, evolve and govern Azure landing zones and platform foundations, including subscriptions, policies, RBAC, networking baselines, logging, tagging standards and Azure‑native governance controls to ensure consistency, security and compliance.
  • Lead solution implementation using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines, delivering new builds, migrations and re‑platforming initiatives while driving automation, standardisation and the responsible use of AI‑assisted engineering tools to improve delivery efficiency and quality.
  • Design and implement Azure networking, identity, security and observability capabilities, ensuring solutions are production‑ready with appropriate monitoring, documentation, runbooks and effective handover to Cloud Operations.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaboration across architects, delivery teams, cloud service providers and partners, contribute to design governance and reviews, ensure adherence to AIA standards, and promote cost optimisation, reuse and strong cloud engineering practices.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure and platform engineering, with strong hands‑on delivery of enterprise‑scale Microsoft Azure solutions spanning landing zones, networking, identity, security and core platform services.
  • Advanced Infrastructure as Code capability using Terraform and or Bicep, with proven delivery through CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps and or GitHub Actions.
  • Strong foundations in infrastructure, networking and security by design, including private and hybrid connectivity, routing, DNS, firewalls, secure baselines and governance controls.
  • Proven experience delivering modern cloud workloads and transformations, including container platforms such as AKS, and supporting application and data migrations with effective planning and cutover execution.
  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance‑driven environments, with exposure to FinOps practices such as cost modelling, rightsizing and the application of financial guardrails in solution design, combined with strong communication and documentation skills.
