Job summary

The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) seeks a Clinical Forensic Medicine Physician to deliver expert clinical care and medico-legal opinions within a multidisciplinary team spanning health, policing and the justice system.

You will supervise clinicians, prepare reports, contribute to education and research, and participate in after-hours/on-call service as part of the 24-hour model.

Qualifications

• Must hold MBBS or equivalent with general or specialist registration in Australia.
• Forensic medicine qualifications and extensive clinical forensic experience are required.
• Experience in medico-legal reporting and expert evidence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical forensic care and medico-legal opinions.
• Examine patients and document findings related to assault cases.
• Assess custody individuals for fitness to be interviewed.
• Prepare medico-legal reports and statements; provide expert evidence when required.
• Supervise and mentor clinicians; contribute to education, research and service development.
