Job summary

JK Williams is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our Commercial team in Australia. The role focuses on securing and shaping future projects by preparing accurate, competitive tenders for subdivision, bulk earthworks and civil infrastructure works.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and project teams, you will ensure submissions are commercially sound, compliant and aligned with our capabilities, with sharp analytical thinking and strict deadline discipline.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or working towards completion.
• Exposure to estimating within a civil construction environment.
• Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies.
• Ability to prepare estimates using first principles.
• High level of competency in Excel and spreadsheet analysis.
• Ability to build relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Understanding of WHS, environmental and quality requirements in civil construction.
• Current Driver’s Licence and White Card.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
• Prepare first principles estimates and cost breakdowns.
• Source competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare and submit tenders within required timeframes.
• Attend site inspections and tender meetings as required.
• Support project handovers to construction teams.
• Analyse risks and identify opportunities within tender submissions.
• Maintain accurate tender registers and documentation.

Job Description

The diverse role includes, but is not limited to:

• Reviewing and assessing tender documentation for completeness and accuracy
• Performing quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
• Preparing first principles estimates and cost breakdowns
• Sourcing competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
• Preparing and submitting tenders within required timeframes
• Attending site inspections and tender meetings as required
• Supporting project handovers to construction teams
• Analysing risks and identifying opportunities within tender submissions
• Maintaining accurate tender registers and documentation in line with company systems
