Job summary

WSP Australia is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to design and deliver utility-scale solar, wind and BESS projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across our Power & Energy business.

You will drive civil designs, feasibility studies, earthworks and drainage, and support construction from concept through to operation while mentoring graduates and contributing to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership will be highly regarded (RPEV/RPEQ valued).
• Memberships or ongoing professional development desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver civil designs for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS).
• Contribute to feasibility studies and civil engineering assessments.
• Undertake earthworks, drainage, site grading, roads and stormwater infrastructure.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project outcomes.
• Review deliverables and support Owner's Engineer activities.
• Participate in site inspections and construction support.
• Promote Safety in Design and compliance with standards.

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of utility-scale solar, wind and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across our national Power & Energy business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer looking to further develop their expertise in renewable energy infrastructure, working on projects from concept through to construction and operation.

What You'll Do

• Deliver civil designs for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind and BESS developments.
• Contribute to feasibility studies and civil engineering assessments throughout the project lifecycle.
• Undertake civil design activities including earthworks, drainage, access roads, hardstands, stormwater management and site infrastructure.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, design documentation and construction drawings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Review contractor and consultant deliverables and support Owner's Engineer activities where required.
• Participate in site inspections and construction support activities.
• Promote Safety in Design principles and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Manage project tasks, budgets and deliverables under the guidance of senior project leaders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.
• Support proposal development, bid submissions and business development activities.
• Mentor graduate and junior engineers and contribute to a positive team culture.

Qualifications

About You

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership will be highly regarded.
• RPEV or RPEQ will be highly regarded.
• Relevant industry memberships or professional development training are desirable.

Experience & Skills

• 6-8+ years' experience in civil engineering, preferably within consulting, infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
• Experience delivering civil design packages and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of renewable energy projects, transmission & distribution infrastructure, or major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
• Experience with earthworks, drainage design, site grading, access roads and stormwater infrastructure.
• Understanding of Safety in Design and risk management principles.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience managing competing priorities and delivering quality outcomes to project deadlines.
• Passion for renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
