Job summary

Building Talent Recruitment, Canberra ACT, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead major infrastructure projects for government clients. You will manage civil design, coordinating with ACT agencies and stakeholders, and contribute to project delivery from master planning to documentation.

You’ll bring 5+ years of civil engineering experience, Civil 3D/DRAINS/MUSIC proficiency, and a track record in client-facing roles, with mentoring responsibilities anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• CPEng accreditation or working towards it.
• 5+ years’ civil engineering experience, ideally with ACT Government or local public sector exposure.
• Experience designing and coordinating civil infrastructure including drains, stormwater, roads, pavements, retaining walls, and water/sewer mains.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, DRAINS and MUSIC.
• Strong client-facing and project management skills, including proposal preparation and cost management.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and management of civil design and documentation packages, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery within budget.
• Coordinate with clients, authorities (ACT Government agencies), stakeholders, and the wider design team to resolve design challenges and integrate civil infrastructure.
• Prepare proposals, manage project costs, and oversee delivery.
• Apply technical knowledge to develop practical solutions for drains, stormwater, roads, pavements, retaining walls, water and sewer mains.
• Build strong client relationships, particularly with government agencies, and grow your network.
• Contribute to business growth and support the team through mentoring and leadership.

The Opportunity

An established civil consultancy in Canberra is growing its civil team of 7 engineers and looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to play a key role in delivering major building infrastructure projects.

Recent and upcoming work includes high-profile assignments such as the War Memorial redevelopment, numerous hospitals, and theatres, spanning from master planning and business cases through to detailed documentation.

What You’ll Be Doing
