Job summary

Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) invites applications for the Senior Child Protection Practitioner (Community Based) position in Melbourne. The role sits within the Support and Safety Hubs and will report to the Team Manager, providing expert advice and coordinated support to hub staff and partner services.

The role involves collaboration across family services, violence services and men’s services, with a focus on earlier interventions, unborn child involvement when required,

Qualifications

• Risk assessment and analysis: further develops and coach's others in their understanding of risk assessment and analysis
• Case planning review and case management: provides case planning advice, guidance and support to others; directly supports and inputs into cases where there is unacceptable risk to the child
• Critical inquiry: leads planning, review and management of issues in line with best practice principles and legislative requirements

Responsibilities

• The Senior Child Protection Practitioner (Community Based) works within a multi-disciplinary setting to provide expert advice, support and consultation to Hub staff and to Family Services, Specialist Family Violence Services and Men's Services
• Collaborates with services to support earlier and more effective intervention for vulnerable children, young people and families
• Involves direct engagement with unborn children where high likelihood of post-birth intervention, and contributes to community education on statutory processes and responsibilities
