Job summary

Flying Bark Productions is seeking a CG Lighting Artist to join our Sydney team. You will collaborate with compositors and leads to deliver the creative brief set by the VFX Supervisor, applying Arnold with Katana and integrating Nuke pre-composites to ensure lighting consistency across shots.

With 4+ years in 3D animated films or episodic work, you will troubleshoot lighting and rendering in fast-paced environments, maintain production timelines, and work closely with the team to drive

Job description

Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. We are working on exciting projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series and Stranger Things animated series as well as upcoming feature film, Zac Power.

As a CG Lighting Artist you will work closely with compositors and creative Leads in order to achieve the creative brief set out by the VFX Supervisor. You will be able to confidently use the tools or software provided, and play a critical role in the execution and delivery of the high quality visual style of the production.

About you:

• Minimum requirement of 4+ years production experience in 3D animated films and/or animated episodic;
• Portfolios with graphic stylisation of reality preferred. Somewhat in the vein of Spiderverse, Entergalactic, Arcane and The Witness [Love, Death, Robots] ;
• Experience lighting and rendering with Arnold using Katana;
• Experience in Nuke to create a pre-composite tree that combines rendered elements;
• Ability to maintain consistency of lighting across all shots;
• Ability to optimize and troubleshoot lighting and rendering problems in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to work closely with the compositors to bring shots from lighting through to final while maintaining timing and production quotas given by the production coordinators.
• Ability to successfully take and interpret a creative brief, whether a verbal or visual brief;
• Ability to work within a team and maintain good team dynamics;
• Ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned tasks;
• Ability to self-manage and complete tasks within production deadlines;
• Communicate and seek information when necessary;
• Be adaptable, flexible and responsive to changes.
