Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a proactive SCADA Systems Engineer based in Sydney, Australia. You will translate project requirements into SCADA design, support interfaces, and maintain configurations to ensure reliable operational data presentation.

You will collaborate with product teams, system engineers, testers, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues and drive system integration, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring alignment with Hitachi standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in SCADA systems engineering within complex rail or infrastructure environments.
  • Hands-on with Hitachi Rail in-house SCADA product.
  • Knowledge of SCADA architecture, alarms, events, data acquisition, and monitoring.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
  • Experience in system integration, testing, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product features, system engineering, and project requirements into SCADA design and implementation outputs.
  • Support SCADA interface definition and integration with related control, monitoring, communications, and operational systems.
  • Develop and maintain SCADA configuration, including alarms, events, graphics, operator workstation functionality, and operational data presentation.
  • Support system integration, factory testing, site testing, commissioning, and defect resolution.
  • Provide technical support to project engineering, testing, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Maintain SCADA design consistency, configuration control, and alignment with internal product standards.
  • Act as a key technical link between the project delivery team and the Hitachi SCADA product team.

Job Description:

Key responsibilities:

  • Translate product features, system engineering, and project requirements into SCADA design and implementation outputs

Key skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in SCADA systems engineering within complex rail or infrastructure environments
  • Practical experience with Hitachi Rail’s in‑house SCADA product, including design, interfaces, integration, testing, and technical support
  • Understanding of SCADA architecture, interfaces, alarms, events, data acquisition, and system monitoring functions
  • Ability to work with product teams, systems engineers, testers, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues
  • Experience supporting system integration, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness activities
  • Experience producing and maintaining technical documentation, configuration records, and engineering inputs
  • Relevant qualifications in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Information Technology, or similar
