Job summary

Royal Flying Doctor Service in Dubbo is seeking a Senior Base Engineer to lead the engineering team at the Dubbo base, ensuring aircraft are maintained to the highest airworthiness and safety standards. You will mentor engineers and coordinate maintenance priorities, working closely with Flight Operations and other stakeholders.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, drive continuous improvement, and travel to RFDS bases as required to provide leadership, engineering support, and licence

Qualifications

• CASA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence is essential.
• Significant experience in aviation line and base maintenance.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and technical direction to engineers and apprentices.
• Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Support development and mentoring of engineering team members.
• Allocate and prioritise maintenance activities to meet operational requirements safely.
• Act as engineering representative at the base and coordinate cross-base activities.
• Lead safety leadership and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with CASA regulations and procedures.
• Support fleet availability, dispatch reliability, and operational performance.
• Collaborate with pilots, medical teams, and operations to support service delivery.
