Blinq Technologies Pty Ltd. in Sydney is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate the core services that power our AI-native platform.

You’ll own features end-to-end—from discovery and data modelling through rollout and observability—and help the team scale for real-time contact sharing and lead capture. You'll work with Node.js and TypeScript, collaborate across product, web, mobile, and data teams, and mentor others.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript, async/event-driven architectures.
• Solid API design, data modelling, databases, and backend security.
• Experience in cloud environments; GCP preferred.
• Track record of owning complex technical work end-to-end.

Role & Impact

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Blinq, you'll design, build, and operate the core services that power our platform - from digital identity and contact intelligence to real-time lead capture, team workspaces, and integrations.

You'll own meaningful problems end-to-end, make pragmatic architectural decisions, and help our systems scale reliably and securely as Blinq grows.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys moving between product thinking, system design, and high-quality implementation. You'll also help raise the technical bar across the team through thoughtful code reviews, mentoring, and better engineering practices, while using AI-assisted tools and workflows to increase the speed and quality of how we build.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript


• Own features end-to-end - from technical discovery and data modelling through to rollout, observability, and ongoing improvement


• Build systems that support high-volume, real-time experiences across contact sharing, lead capture, analytics, and third-party integrations


• Improve the reliability, performance, security, and testability of our backend platform


• Make pragmatic architectural decisions, improve core abstractions, and reduce technical debt as the product scales


• Collaborate closely with product, web, mobile, design, and data teams to turn ambiguous problems into simple, high-impact solutions


• Contribute to code reviews, technical planning, and system design, helping other engineers do their best work


• Use and help evolve AI-assisted engineering workflows that improve developer leverage without compromising quality

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems, ideally within fast-moving product or startup environments


• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript, including a solid understanding of asynchronous and event-driven architectures


• Strong foundations in API design, data modelling, databases, distributed systems, and backend security


• Experience designing reliable, observable services in a cloud environment; GCP experience is preferred


• A track record of owning complex technical work from problem definition through to production


• Strong product judgment and the ability to balance speed, scalability, quality, and customer impact


• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to technical decision-making, code reviews, and mentoring


• Curiosity about AI-native development and experience using AI tools to improve how you design, build, test, or operate software
