Job summary

Cox Purtell is recruiting a Senior Azure Integration Developer for a Canberra, Sydney or Brisbane based federal government agency. You will own the design and evolution of the enterprise integration capability, including the uplift and governance of the iPaaS platform.

The role combines architecture leadership with hands-on delivery across ERP, data platforms and AI initiatives. The position is a 12-month contract with a 12-month extension option, hybrid with three days in the office.

Qualifications

About the client

Our client is a federal government agency in the middle of a significant digital uplift. Integration sits at the centre of it, connecting business applications, enterprise platforms, data services, external partners and, increasingly, AI services. The program of work spans ERP modernisation, Azure platform uplift, enterprise data platform enhancements, Microsoft Foundry adoption and digital service delivery.

About the role

Sitting within the Architecture team, you’ll own the design and ongoing evolution of the agency’s enterprise integration capability, including the uplift and governance of its iPaaS platform. It’s a genuine mix of architecture leadership, design assurance and hands‑on delivery, working across project and operational teams to make sure what gets built is secure, scalable and reusable. A meaningful part of the role is AI transformation, which is why commercial AI experience is highly desirable. This is an initial 12-month contract with a 12-month extension option, starting late December, at a daily rate of $[ ]. The role is hybrid with a minimum of three days a week in the office, and the client will consider candidates based in Canberra, Sydney or Brisbane.

Duties

• Define and evolve the integration architecture, standards, patterns and roadmap.


• Lead the uplift of the iPaaS platform and its supporting technologies.


• Design and implement API, event‑driven and service‑oriented integration solutions supporting ERP, data platform, analytics and AI initiatives.


• Design integration approaches for AI services, agent‑based systems, MCP servers and machine‑to‑machine communication.


• Establish DevOps, automation and CI/CD practices for integration services, alongside API management and governance capability.

Requirements

• Australian Citizen with a current NV1 security clearance (essential).


• Senior experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise integration solutions in complex environments.


• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure Integration Services, including API Management, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Hub, Function Apps and Data Factory.


• Experience developing integration standards, patterns and governance, and providing design assurance across technology initiatives.


• Experience supporting large programs such as ERP modernisation, enterprise data platforms, cloud transformation or digital services.


• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver with minimal supervision.


• Highly desirable: commercial AI experience, such as AI platforms, agent‑based architectures, MCP servers or API ecosystems.


• Desirable: experience integrating data warehouses, data lakes or analytics environments.
