AustralianSuper in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane seeks a Senior Associate in Middle Office Operations to support the investment lifecycle with pre- and post-trade operations across asset classes. You will act as a subject matter expert, driving process improvements and ensuring accurate trade activity, settlements, and reconciliations.

You will collaborate with internal teams and vendors, mentor colleagues, and contribute to strategic initiatives while maintaining a strong control environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Serve as the operational SME across asset classes and trade lifecycle processes.
• Lead resolution of complex operational, product, and vendor-related issues.
• Oversee trade booking, settlements, valuations, reconciliations, and lifecycle management activities.
• Partner with Investment teams and vendors to deliver efficient and controlled operational outcomes.
• Drive process improvement, automation, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Lead operational support for new products, markets, counterparties, and initiatives.
• Represent Middle Office Operations on strategic projects and regulatory change programs.
• Mentor team members and strengthen capability through leadership and knowledge sharing.

Your New Role

The Senior Associate, Middle Office Operations supports the investment lifecycle by providing pre- and post-trade operational support across asset classes. As a team Subject Matter Expert, the role delivers technical expertise, drives operational excellence, supports new products and processes, and maintains a strong control environment. Working with internal investment teams and strategic vendors, the Senior Associate ensures daily trade activity is executed, settled, and reconciled accurately and efficiently, while contributing to process improvements and team capability.

Key responsibilities include:

• Serving as the operational SME across asset classes (Equity/Fixed Income/FX/ETD and OTC Derivatives), systems, and trade lifecycle processes;
• Leading the resolution of complex operational, product, and vendor-related issues;
• Providing oversight of trade booking, settlements, valuations, reconciliations, and lifecycle management activities;
• Partnering with Investment teams and strategic vendors to deliver efficient and controlled operational outcomes;
• Driving process improvement, automation, and operational excellence initiatives;
• Leading operational support for new products, markets, counterparties, and business initiatives;
• Representing Middle Office Operations on strategic projects and regulatory change programs;
• Mentoring team members and strengthen capability through technical leadership and knowledge sharing.

This is a permanent role located in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

What You'll Need

• Previous experience with a buy side fund manager or pension fund within a middle office environment;
• Proficient user of trade confirmation platforms such as OSTTRA (MarkitWire), OSTTRA Trade Manager, DS Match, ICE Clear, FXall;
• Experience in Aladdin is highly desirable;
• Strong stakeholder management ability and effective communication skills;
• A willingness to be hands on and undertake operational activity;
• A high level of attention to detail and ability to meet delivery deadlines;
• Prior experience as a key person in a team environment
• Tertiary qualifications in Business or Accounting disciplines
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency status is required.
