Role Overview

The Senior Automation and Virtualization Specialist will be responsible for managing and developing the Department’s Aria Automation, NSX, Aria Operations, and Site Recovery Manager instances as part of the Infrastructure Platforms team. The role also includes maintaining and enhancing the Department’s VMware vSphere, Cloud Foundation environments, and physical server infrastructure (rack-mounted and blade servers). This position requires producing high-quality design, build, and operations documentation, facilitating knowledge transfer, and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop automation and virtualization platforms, including Aria Automation, NSX, Aria Operations, and Site Recovery Manager.
• Maintain and enhance VMware vSphere and Cloud Foundation environments.
• Oversee server infrastructure (rack-mounted and blade servers).
• Produce design documents, build guides, and operational procedures.
• Conduct knowledge sharing and mentor junior team members.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with technical and business requirements.

Essential Criteria

1. Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience in several of the following technologies:
   • Aria Automation
   • Aria Orchestrator
   • VMware NSX
   • Aria Operations
   • Site Recovery Manager
   • VMware vSphere and Cloud Foundation
2. Scripting and Coding Skills: Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
   • PowerShell
   • PowerCLI
   • YAML
   • JavaScript
3. Documentation: Ability to produce design, build, and operations documents for processes and procedures.
4. Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to staff and stakeholders, collaborate with technical teams, and coach junior staff.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience administering Veeam Backup and Replication.
• Acknowledgement that Aria Automation was formerly known as vRealize Automation (vRA). Candidates with strong experience in vRA and VMware NSX will be considered suitable, though up-to-date knowledge of current products is preferred.

Casual Loading

Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
