Job summary

REA Group is seeking a Senior Engineer (Mobile Android) to design, build and evolve our Android experiences in Melbourne. You will mentor engineers, influence architecture and contribute across web and APIs while remaining hands-on.

You'll work with product and design to deliver robust, high‑performing mobile apps, explore AI-assisted development and help retire legacy monoliths to micro-frontends. This role offers hybrid work and a focus on quality.

Qualifications

• Extensive Android development experience with Kotlin.
• Experience designing scalable mobile apps and backend services.
• Strong knowledge of mobile architecture, API integration and performance optimization.
• Experience mentoring and teaching teammates.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and document Android apps and services using REA standards.
• Lead or contribute to high‑value initiatives from discovery through deployment and optimisation.
• Solve complex technical problems and lift team capability.
• Guide architectural decisions and engineering practices with the Engineering Manager.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design high‑quality solutions that meet user needs.
• Maintain existing products, resolve production issues and participate in on-call duties.
• Own code in production with responsibility for reliability, security and performance.
• Contribute to mobile community and team culture.
