Whether you're building your future or starting your career with us, you won't do it alone. From creating solutions for our clients to building careers for our people, we shape what matters, and that's where you come in.

About the Role

BDO is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our AML team on an initial 6-month max-term contract. Working within a national team, this opportunity can be based in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth.

This role will play a key part in advancing and embedding BDO's AML/CTF program while supporting two significant compliance initiatives.

About the Team

BDO's Quality & Risk Management function underpins our business, enabling risk-informed decision-making, strengthening our culture of quality, and protecting our brand and reputation.

Within this function, the Enterprise Risk Management team is responsible for the design, implementation and continuous enhancement of the firm's enterprise risk management framework and compliance programs. The team provides oversight and support across enterprise risk, regulatory compliance, AML/CTF obligations and privacy, helping to safeguard the firm and support sustainable growth.

About the Opportunity

Working closely with the AML Senior Manager and broader AML team, you will lead detailed reviews of customer due diligence activities, identify opportunities for process improvement, provide technical AML guidance, and support the delivery of AML obligations across approximately 30,000 recurring client engagements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional who enjoys balancing technical analysis, stakeholder engagement and operational delivery in a fast-paced environment.

In this Role You Will
  • Review AML customer due diligence (CDD) files and assess compliance against legislative requirements and internal policies.
  • Identify control gaps, analyse findings and recommend practical improvements to strengthen AML processes.
  • Develop operational guidance materials, templates, decision trees and training resources.
  • Support remediation activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical AML guidance to AML Administrators conducting customer due diligence activities.
  • Monitor the quality, consistency and timeliness of AML processing activities.
  • Assist with complex due diligence matters, escalations and stakeholder queries.
  • Support workflow management, workforce planning and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the firm to promote effective AML compliance practices.
About You

You'll be a collaborative and detail-oriented compliance professional with a passion for helping organisations manage regulatory risk and strengthen compliance outcomes.

You'll also bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in AML/CTF compliance, customer due diligence and financial crime compliance.
  • Strong understanding of Australian AML/CTF legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience reviewing due diligence files and applying a risk-based approach.
  • The ability to identify compliance gaps and recommend practical, workable solutions.
  • Experience contributing to policies, procedures, guidance materials, templates or training resources.
  • Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience working with FirstAML would be highly regarded but not essential
