Job summary

A government finance and economic advisory team is seeking a Senior Advisor for Transparency & Integrity. The role involves leading governance projects and providing expert guidance in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SO52 orders and GIPA Act applications, coupled with relevant tertiary qualifications. This hybrid position offers flexibility with 3 days in office and 2 days working from home.

Senior Advisor – Transparency & Integrity

Location: Sydney CBD (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH – flexible)

Contract: ASAP – 7 April 2026

Pay Rate: $705/day + super

A government finance and economic advisory team is looking for a Senior Advisor to provide expert guidance on Transparency and Integrity matters across a whole-of-government context. This role involves managing information access, regulatory engagement, and legal governance projects, while collaborating with internal stakeholders, other government agencies, and external parties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead responses to document requests under Standing Order 52 and other statutory investigative processes.
  • Assess and decide information access applications under the GIPA Act, drafting administrative decisions.
  • Support strategic projects affecting legal and governance matters.
  • Investigate privacy complaints and provide advice on personal information, complaints, and public interest disclosures.
  • Prepare briefs, reports, and advice for senior management and Ministers.
  • Develop guidance, precedents, and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience managing SO52 orders and GIPA Act applications.
  • Tertiary qualifications in law, government, political science, economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong governance knowledge and investigative skills.
  • Ability to provide timely, strategic, and practical advice in a high-volume, complex environment.
