Are you an experienced Industrial and Employee Relations professional looking for your next opportunity?

We invite you apply to become a valued part of the People and Employee Relations team at the Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA).

This role is part time 0.6 - 0.8 on a Fixed Term basis until November 2026 for parental leave cover.

What you'll do

This is a unique opportunity to significantly enhance Catholic school outcomes for students by providing essential support to education proprietors, employers, and related external parties through expert employee relations guidance.

As a Senior Advisor, you’ll play a crucial role in providing expert advice to all our stakeholders regarding employee relations matters within the Catholic education sector. Using your experience, you will be a trusted advisor, assisting with the resolution of complex employee relations issues and ensuring compliance with relevant industrial relations legislation and policies.

Your contributions will be crucial in supporting Catholic education proprietors in fostering positive and supportive working environments, across the Victorian Catholic sector.

What you'll bring

Demonstrated experience in providing expert advice and support in the field of employee relations, preferably within the education sector or a similarly complex organisational structure.

Comprehensive knowledge of relevant industrial relations legislation and employment agreements.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex employee relations issues, identify underlying causes, and develop practical solutions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, negotiate outcomes, and facilitate resolution of conflicts.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee relations matters.

Proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development, keeping up‑to‑date with changes in employment laws and industry trends.

Qualifications and Experience

Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management, Employee/Industrial relations, Law or other related field is desirable.

A minimum of three years’ experience in an employee relations or people and culture role with employee relations responsibilities.

The successful applicant will be required hold a current Victorian Working With Children Check and undertake and receive a clear National Criminal History Check.
