The Role

The Senior Refinery Accountant has responsibility for day‑to‑day financial and management accounting operations.

This is a Permanent Full‑time position based at our Kwinana Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Refinery month end reporting process including calculation, preparation and posting of journals (accruals, inventory valuations, allocations, provisions).
  • Collaborate in the coordination and management the budget and 2-year plan process.
  • Investigate variances, conduct appropriate analysis, and prepare meaningful commentary in support of the month end and planning (budget, forecast and 2-year plan) submissions.
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review and processing of inventory valuations.
  • Preparation of specific financial and cost information for the Refinery.
  • Ensure appropriate classification and treatment of capital expenditure and fixed assets.
  • Provide support to the Financial Accounting function in the review of Covalent's positions on key technical accounting issues (e.g. leases), during financial audits and in the completion of statutory submissions.
  • Prepare documentation of Covalent's accounting processes for the Refinery.
  • Identify and implement systems, procedures and tools to best run the management accounting function for the Refinery.
Role Requirements
  • CA/CPA qualified.
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree (Majoring in Accounting and/or Finance).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Previous experience in industrial, chemical or manufacturing preferred. Experience in resources and mining will be highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in using SAP preferred.
