Job description

Join a fast-growing, young, and dynamic boutique firm in the Melbourne CBD where you’ll do far more than compliance work. If you’re hungry for personal and professional growth and want real exposure to business, advisory, and tax, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Why You’ll Love This Role
  • Work closely with the Managing Director and gain all‑round exposure across tax, business advisory, and client strategy.
  • Join a high‑energy, supportive team that works hard, learns fast, and actually has fun doing it.
  • Grow your career faster than in a large practice—with ongoing training, mentorship, bonuses, and real responsibility.
About The Organisation

Do you want people to think you’re more than “just an accountant at a BBQ”? Come and work with a firm that’s young, fast‑paced, honest, collaborative, and growing quickly. They look after each other, they work hard together, and they have fun doing it.

They’re a boutique accounting practice located in the Melbourne CBD, dedicated to delivering exceptional results to a rapidly expanding client base. The knowledge and hands‑on experience you’ll gain will surpass what most large firms can offer—this is an exciting opportunity to be part of building something great.

The Role

We’re seeking a self‑motivated Senior Accountant who is passionate about accounting and tax, thrives in a collaborative environment, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. You’ll be fully accountable for delivering expert tax consultancy, accountancy, and business advisory services to individuals and SMEs across Melbourne.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll manage compliance workflows, build client relationships, and provide high‑quality technical advice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements for Companies, Trusts, Partnerships, and SMSFs.
  • Prepare BAS & FBT Returns and ensure all compliance aligns with accounting standards.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strong and positive relationships.
  • Manage WIP and ensure jobs are completed on time and within budget.
  • Support and guide junior staff while overseeing workflow.
  • Provide Management Accounting reports, analysis, and corporate advisory insights.
What the organisation offers
  • Broad exposure across business, tax, and advisory—no compliance‑only work here.
  • Competitive salary package with a salary review post‑probation.
  • Bonus scheme based on qualifications, efficiency, client management, and KPIs.
  • Continuous professional growth with monthly training + personalised development programs.
  • A collaborative team environment with a supportive, fun, and inclusive culture.
Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant field (Australia).
  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in public practice accounting.
  • Strong autonomy, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and oversee a team.
  • Effective communicator with solid client‑relationship skills.
  • Xero experience essential.
