Job summary

Brisbane Catholic Education Office, in partnership with St John's College, Nambour, is seeking a qualified and passionate Music teacher to join our team for the remainder of the 2026 school year.

You will teach at St John's College - Nambour from 12 October 2026, for 30 hours per week, on a full‑time fixed‑term basis, with a salary of AU$86,601–AU$124,725 plus 12.75% super.

Qualifications

• Registration with Queensland College of Teachers is required.
• Experience teaching Music and/or Religious Education is preferred.
• Ability to contribute to Catholic ethos and school community.

Responsibilities

• Create a nurturing, learner-centred classroom aligned with curriculum and policies.
• Deliver engaging Music lessons and potentially Religious Education.
• Assess and report student progress to parents and the school community.
• Collaborate with leadership and teachers to foster a positive school culture.
• Support safeguarding and Catholic ethos.

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

• Creating a nurturing and ordered learning environment that is learner-centred, supportive, cooperative, and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents and practices
• A willingness to support the Catholic ethos of the College, safeguarding processes and contribute to the broader school community
• The ability, and relevant qualifications, to teach Religious Education or a second subject area is highly desirable and strong support for the Catholic ethos of the school is essential
• Collaboratively developing and implementing quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy; evaluating their effectiveness; assessing and reporting student progress and learning outcomes; and reporting these to students, parents and the community
• Working collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers and other staff members in contributing to the professional life of the school and fostering a positive school culture
• Proactively engaging with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
• Establishing positive relationships in the pastoral care of students and supporting their spiritual and moral development
• Ability to create engaging, inclusive and differentiated learning experiences
• Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

• Creating a supportive, learner-focused classroom aligned with the Australian Curriculum
• Expertise in designing and delivering effective curriculum programs in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
• Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to enrich learning experiences and achieve the best educational outcomes for students
• A passion to support students' spiritual and moral development
• A willingness to support the Catholic ethos of the College, safeguarding processes and contribute to the broader school community
• The ability, and relevant qualifications, to teach Religious Education is highly desirable and strong support for the Catholic ethos of the school is essential
• For this position you are not required to be Catholic.

• Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
