Job summary

St John the Evangelist Catholic High School in Nowra is seeking an experienced EAL/D Teacher for a temporary part-time (0.4FTE) role commencing 28 January 2027. The position sits within the Learning K-12 Team and focuses on supporting EAL/D students in a secondary context.

You will collaborate with school leaders, design learning plans, facilitate professional learning, and help collect and analyse student work and assessment data to drive targeted teaching strategies.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate TESOL qualification (desirable) or willingness to study.
• Appropriate qualifications for teaching Secondary 7–12.
• Accredited NSW teaching accreditation or commitment to gain within 5 years.
• Must be accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the School Leadership Team and EAL/D Officers.
• Design and facilitate professional learning to build teacher capacity.
• Coordinate collection of student work samples and assessment data.
• Support EAL/D students’ learning through co-teaching and learning plans.
• Analyse student work using ACARA EAL/D Progressions to direct teaching.
